Funeral services for John Jefferson Collins, a long-time resident of Hammon, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Hammon Baptist Church with Hugh Collett officiating.
Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.
Mr. Collins was born October 18, 1885 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died Monday, October 18, 1965, his 80th birthday, in an Elk City hospital.
He was married to Ellen Mae Pass in Gary, Texas, August 8, 1906. They moved to the Hammon area in the early 1900's and lived here ever since.
He was a retired harness and leather shop worker and a member of the First Christian Church in Elk City.
Survivors include his widow of the home address; two sons, Beauford Collins of La Mesa, California; and Oran Collins of Lemon Grove, California; five daughters, Mrs. Elra Bailey of El Cajon, California; Mrs. Aubrey Buchannan of Woodward, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ruth Irwin of Hammon, Oklahoma; Leona Kane of Longview, Texas; and Nellie Pittman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Evie Tomkins of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Lettie Youngblood of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Fred Collins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
