ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for the Rev. Damon O. Burrows, 71, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Minchew Auditorium at Southwestern Christian University, 7210 NW 39th Expressway Bethany, OK 73008, with Chaplin “Colonel” Jerry Jones, U.S. Army Retired presiding.

Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Okla. The family will receive guests at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Minchew Auditorium.

Viewing will be available before and the service. Graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. David A. Burrows. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born July 2, 1941, in Elk City, Okla., to Oran Thomas and Ila Pearl Blount Burrows and passed Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Wakita Community Health Center.

He graduated from Southwestern Christian University with a B.A., and later received an honorary doctorate.

He was an ordained minister with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 45 years.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and also was overseas on Midway and Kure Islands.

On Jan. 4, 1964, he married Marilyn Lucille Brown in Spring Valley, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; two sons, Damon O. Burrows II of Newport Beach, Calif., and David A. Burrows of Enid; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in in his name to Southwestern Christian University, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
