Ninnie Maria Barnes was born May 19, 1920 at Farmersville, Texas, to John K. and Ninnie S. Boulware and died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Pampa, Texas at the age of 79.
Maria attended school in Hammon and Herring.
She married Robert Allen "Bob" Barnes on July 6, 1938 in Sayre.
She was a homemaker.
After her husband retired from the Soil Conservation Service, they became house parents for the Grady County Youth Services in Oklahoma.
She was a member of the Briarwood Full Gospel Church and the Briarwood Senior Group.
Services for Maria Barnes of Pampa, Texas will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Briarwood Full Gospel Church, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday, at the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Dolan Ivey of Hammon, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ninnie Boulware; one grandson, Lyndel Wayne Kent; one sister, Ethel Hutchinson; and two brothers, Lee Boulware and George Boulware.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie Sue and Bill Stephens of Pampa, Texas; Myrna and Bob Mercer of Irving, Texas; Carolyn and Charles Bryant of Jacksonville, Alabama; Aseneth and Randy Simimmo of Hurst, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Rhonda Barnes of Willis, Texas; one sister, Lillie Blount of Sapulpa; one brother, John Boulware of Sugar Hill, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 2795, Pampa, Texas 79066- 2795, of Briarwood Full Gospel Church, 1800 W. Harvester, Pampa, Texas 79065.
