Funeral services for Eppie R. Barnes were conducted from the Martin Funeral chapel, on Thursday, January 3, 1980 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Clark officiating. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnes was born January 16, 1889 in Peaster, Parker County, Texas and died in the Hodges Nursing Home early Tuesday morning, January 1, 1980 at the age of 90.
He came to the Hammon area as a young man, and was married to Grace Irene Chambers December 15, 1912 at Hammon. They lived and farmed in the Hammon area, until January, 1956 when they moved to Elk City. Mrs. Barnes preceded him in death December 19, 1974.
Mr. Barnes had been a resident of Hodges Nursing Home the past three years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" Barnes of Hammon and Herman Barnes of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Ruth Ball of Gravette, Arkansas; and Angie Faye Gass of Hammon; a daughter-in-law, Naomi Barnes of Hammon; one sister, Nova Lee Crowe of Ponca City, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Barnes, March 17, 1974, and by three brothers and two sisters.
