Funeral services for Annie Belle Allen were conducted Saturday, June 2, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City with Dolan Ivey and Billy Allen officiating.
Interment was followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Annie Belle Lackey Allen was born February 16, 1905 at Corsicana, Texas to L. A. and Wash Stella Jones Lackey and died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at the age of 96.
Annie attended school at Red Rock and Herring.
She was baptized in the Washita River near Herring when she was in her 20's.
She was married to John B. Allen February 11, 1923 at Herring, Oklahoma.
Annie worked side by side with John milking cows and raising wheat on their family farm southwest of Hammon. They also went on harvest together for over 45 years.
She was an excellent cook and was always generous with whatever she had.
She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son-in-law, Fred Walker, one great grandson, three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Imagene Walker of Hammon; two grandsons, Jack Walker and his wife Shirley; Kenneth Walker and his wife Paulette, all of Hammon; one sister, Dorothy Griffin of Midwest City; one brother, Paul Lackey of Hammon; seven great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
