John Linville Ackley was born October 5, 1874 in Newport, Campbell, Kentucky to Richard Smith Ackley and Emily Hammon and died December 15, 1919 at Elk City, Oklahoma.

He came to Custer County in 1894.

He was married to Martha Elizabeth Vickers October 16, 1903 in Port, Washita County, Oklahoma.

They moved to Roger Mills County in 1909.

He was buried at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

He was the father of Mommi Theodore Alford, Ruth, Gladya Ramona, Anice, Frank and Harry.
