Lucy LaVona Morris Steward, died February 24, 1998 in Houston, Texas. She was born on April 2, 1914 in Hoxbar, Oklahoma and resided in the Three Corners area of Roger Mills County, Oklahoma during her early married years.
She was the last surviving child of nine children born to Safronia Celle Coleman Morris and William Ambrose Morris.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe Elgin Steward; daughter, Shirley Yvonne Zetzman and husband Bob of Sweetwater, Texas; son, Ron Joe Steward and wife Dorothy of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Gueydon Thurber and husband Jack of Horsehoe Bay, Texas; son, Clyde Ross Steward and wife Michele of Lake Jackson, Texas; son, Sam William Steward and wife Gwen of Hurst, Texas; son, Dan Brent Steward and wife Gilda of the Woodlands, Texas; daughter, Karen Yevette Bloodsworth and husband Mike of Tyler, Texas; twenty three grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lori Steward.
Friends and relatives were invited to visitation with the family from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 1998 at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held in Gainesville, Texas at 2:00 p.m. Saturday 28, 1998 at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street. LaVona's son-in-law, Rev. Mike Bloodsworth, delivered the funeral service, assisted by Rev. Calvin Walker, with graveside service immediately following at New Hope Cemetery.
The pallbearers were LaVona's grandsons, Joe Max Zetzman, Robert Dell Zetzman, Joe Ryan Steward, Michael Ross Steward, Christopher Allen Steward, William Brent Steward, Neil Thomas Steward and Jonathan Elias Steward.
