JERRY LEE STARR
1947 - 2016
Jerry Lee Starr was born April 9, 1947 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to Lecy and Marvin Lee Starr. He passed away March 26, 2016 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 17 days.Jerry grew up in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma and attended schools there.He was drafted in August of 1966 into the United States Army and served as a cook for two years.He was married to Linda Haskett in 1966.Jerry went to work for Public Service Company {PSO} in 1970 and in 1983 he was transferred to Cheyenne, Oklahoma and retired after 30 years of service.He served on the Chamber of Commerce in Cheyenne, Kiwanis Club and the Cheyenne Fire Department. He retired from the Cheyenne Fire Department after many years of service which he was proud of.He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and took much pride in them.Jerry was known for his great cooking and his hobbies of woodworking, restoring old cars and working on scooters. He loved cats very much and his special cat "Morris" whom he cherished.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and one grandson, Jarod James Martindale.Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry A. Starr of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Susan Starr Mabra and husband, Robby Mabra of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Blake Martindale and wife, Ashley of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Brace Hill of Sayre, Oklahoma; Timmy Mabra of Sayre, Oklahoma; Adreanna Starr of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Dyonna Ramos and husband, Michael of Stillwater, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Cheyenne United Methodist Church, 209 N. Cearlock Ave., Cheyenne, Oklahoma.Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne Cemetery, Highway 47 West, Cheyenne, Oklahoma 73628 under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
