Services for R. E. Smith, 60, of LaMarque, Texas were held on Saturday, July 16, 1983 in Hitchcock, Texas.
Mr. Smith died Thursday, July 14, 1983 at Memorial Hospital in Texas City, Texas.
He was born March 19, 1923 in Chillicothe, Texas.
He was employed by Union Carbide for 31 years and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 527 of Galveston, Texas.
Mr. Smith had been a LaMarque resident since 1951 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaMarque.
He was World War II Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Smith of LaMarque; two sons, Ron Smith of Katy; and Dennis Smith of Angleton; four sisters, Effie Stuart of Dallas; Veta Fay Platts and Imogene Wilcos, both of Borger, Texas; and Wanda Binkley of Tucson, Arizona; four brothers, Melvin Smith of Hedley, Texas; Everett Beaver of Anson, Texas; Cecil Smith of San Luis Obispo, California;and five grandchildren; as well as numerous friends.

LA MARQUE - Services for R. E. Smith, 60, of La Marque, an electrician, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at James Crowder Funeral Home, Dr. Robert King officiating.
Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park In Hitchcock under direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Smith died Thursday at Memorial Hospital of Galveston County in Texas City.
