Susannie Bowen Mills was born August 8, 1924 to Mary Cox Bowen and Jessie Ward Bowen in Springfield, Missoui.
She died February 7, 2003 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Mills enjoyed her family, gardening, making quilts and visiting shut-ins. She blessed many lives by her singing and piano playing.
She married Edward Leroy Mills Sr., April 4, 1941. They lived most of their married life in their home north of Springfield.
He preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Linda and Mike Kahoa of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Janice and Melvin Williams of Strafford, Missouri; Rosa and Charles Robbins of Ongo, Missouri; Rachel and Ray Forrester of Springfield, Missouri; Tim Mills of New Haven, Connecticut; Edward Jr. and Julia Mills, Mikell and Nancy Mills, Daniel and Julie Mills and Brian and Patti Mills, all of Springfield; a brother, Jesse Jr. and his wife, Velma Bowen of Nixa, Missouri; a sister, Francesz Unruh of Springfield; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Laine Williams, Anna Mills and an infant.
Funeral services were February 10, 2003 at the Berean Baptist Church in Springfield. She was interred at Greenlawn Cemetery.
