Betty Keahey was born May 4, 1947 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Freda and Elmo Kirk. She passed away November 25, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 21 days.
Betty grew up in the Berlin/Grimes area. After graduating from Berlin High School, she attended Beauty School in Altus, Oklahoma. She returned to Roger Mills County and worked as a beautician for short time before going to work at the Cheyenne Star.
She married Eugene Calvert in 1970 and they moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma. They later moved to Crawford, Oklahoma and she remained there to make her home.
Betty was married to Richard Keahey at Wheeler, Texas on July 7, 1985.
Her passion in life was to care and work with the elderly and she spent many hours fulfilling this by working at the Senior Citizens Center in Cheyenne and SWODA in Sayre as well as giving in home care.
Betty loved cooking, gardening and doting on her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Gordon, Rodney and J. L. Gordon and a sister, Louise Walker.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; two children, Lisa Calvert and Bill Duke of Reydon, Oklahoma and Kevin Calvert of Canadian, Texas; one granddaughter, Haley Calvert of Amarillo, Texas; her brothers and sisters, Diana Conway of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Sharon Tignor of Sayre, Oklahoma; Margie Anderson of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; George Kirk of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Wade Kirk of McLean, Texas and Wallace Kirk of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; an aunt, Eloise Marshall of Elk City, Oklahoma; a special family member, Sparky, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cheyenne United Methodist Church, 404 Moad Avenue, Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
