Verbon "Chuck" Baker, age 79 passed away Sunday, August 28, 1994 at the Coronado Hospital in Pampa, Texas.

Mr. Baker was born on May 28, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama.

He married Marie Hillman on December 6, 1937 at Sayre, Oklahoma. They lived in Perryton from 1957 until 1975 when they moved to Wheeler, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker were the caretakers of Wolf Creek Park at Lake Fryer for 4 years.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Ochiltree county from 1957 until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Marie Baker; four sons, Bobbie Baker of Pageland, South Carolina; Larry Baker of Pampa; Dwayne Baker of Wheeler; and David Baker of Perryton; one daughter Phillis Oquin of Perryton; three sisters, Penny Bunnell of Mobile, Alabama; Kathy Hothan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Pat Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, J. C. Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 1944 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Hensley, pastor and Rev. Norman Rushing pastor of Central Baptist Church in Pampa officiating.

Burial was at Wheeler Cemetery, Wheeler, Wheeler County, Texas.
