Scott Keith Locke, age 64, of Sweetwater, OK, went to be with his Lord and
Savior on May 20th, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, stewardship,
generosity, and loved by so many.
Scott was born March 1, 1962 in Lawton, OK to Don and Lois Locke. As a child, he
was a proud Eagle Scout which helped ignite his love for the outdoors. He
obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Animal Science with a passion
for ranching and put it to use on the family’s Mack Carr Ranch. It was in his
hometown of Atoka, OK he met the love of his life, Teresa Copeland. They married
on May 4, 1984 in Atoka at the First United Methodist Church and together they
built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and raised two children along
the way. He was baptized on July 4th, 1999 at the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Scott spent his life working in agriculture and ranch management, traveling
where opportunity and purpose led him. He eventually settled in Sweetwater, OK
where he faithfully managed the Dobson Ranch for 31 years. All the while
building his own land legacy and cattle program. He also loved hunting, guiding,
and working his bird dogs on the ranch. He completed the 2022 Quail Masters
Program from the Rolling Plains Quail Research Foundation, a true steward for
land and wildlife. Along every stop in life Scott built lifelong friendships and
earned respect of all who knew him.
He was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, riding his horses, and
caring for the land. Ranching was more than just work for Scott, it was a
calling. He served on the Roger Mills County Cattlemens Association Board and
found great joy helping others build successful cattle programs. He was also on
the Roger Mills County Prescribed Burn Association and strongly believed in
conservation, stewardship, and the betterment of the land for future
generations.
Scott dedicated over 30 years to the Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department
serving as an officer, EMT, First Responder, and serving for local ambulance
services. He was Fire Fighter I certified and graduated the Darley pump training
program in the Darley AutoCAFS Academy. He was a passionate advocate for the
department working to help secure grants, equipment, and resources to better
serve the community he loved so deeply.
Above all else, Scott will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and
grandfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend. His strength,
wisdom, generosity, and humor left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate to
know him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the land he cared
for, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
He is preceded in death by his parents Don Locke and Lois Carr Locke, niece
Allison Boor, paternal grandparents H.H. and Asenath Locke, maternal
grandparents Mack and Celia Carr, and in-laws Lloyd and Ann Copeland.
He is survived by his sister Melissa Locke Boor and husband David of
Jacksonville, FL, beloved wife Teresa Locke of the home, son Tyler Locke of
Sweetwater, OK, daughter Olivia Locke Woodard and husband Shane of Amarillo, TX.
His two grandchildren, to whom he was the best “Pops”, Claire and Coy, and
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Join us to celebrate his vibrant life on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at 2pm at the
Sweetwater School Multi-Purpose room in Sweetwater, OK.
