R. P. Kepley's Services Held Saturday.
Services for Robert Preston Kepley, 102-year old retired farmer-rancher of Elk City were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the Revival Center Church with Reverend Albert Trent, pastor officiating.
Born March 2, 1859 in Polk County, Missouri, Mr. Kepley died at his home, Wednesday, October 18, 1961. He had been in ill health for the past 2 1/2 years, but seriously ill since July of this year.
He was married to Elizabeth Williams in Polk County, Missouri in 1882. She preceded him in death January 20, 1908. Mr. Kepley was a charter member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
Mr. Kepley moved from Missouri to Texas in 1889, then in 1894 moved to Allen, Oklahoma where he lived until moving to Roger Mills County where he homesteaded near Strong City. He lived there until moving to Elk City in 1960.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Caffey of Strong City; a son Henry S. Kepley, Elk City; a sister-in-law Mrs. Alice Garrett, Elk City; a brother A. P. Kepley, Clovis, California; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Kiowa Cemetery, south of Hammon, under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
