She was preceded in death by parents Fred Stubblefield and Goldia Mosier Stubblefield; brothers Ted and Troy Stubblefield; and husband Freddie H. Lacey.
Vonnell graduated from Hammon High School in 1950, where she was a star basketball player; she married Freddie Lacey on September 23 of that year. She worked in numerous roles for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company beginning in 1951, retiring in 1983 as a Test Desk Technician. After retirement Vonnell and Freddie enjoyed touring the country via motorcycle; later they turned to RV’s, spending winters in south Texas and summers in New Mexico. In between journeys, Vonnell volunteered as an election worker and enjoyed sewing with the Pfaff Club.
Vonnell Lacey is survived by sisters JoAnn Henderson of El City, OK and Patricia Washuta of Grapevine, TX; brother Terry Stubblefield of Ovalo, TX; daughter Connie Sloan and husband Kelly of Yukon, OK; daughter LaVada Lacey of Mustang, OK; granddaughters Catie McPhee and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City, OK; Kristin Tschetter and husband Andy of Yukon, OK; Jada Wilmeth and husband Eugene of Tulsa, OK; and Lacey Wilson of Mustang, OK. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday,
May 10, 2017 from 4pm-8pm with services following at 10:00am
Thursday, May 11 at Ford Funeral Service.
