Erma May Hensley was born October 13, 1914 in
Durham, Oklahoma to Dora Anna and George Gantz. She
passed away June 12, 2012 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the
age of 97 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Erma attended school at Clifford and Durham Schools.
She was married to Guy Clifford Hensley on December
23, 1931 in a cotton patch near Crawford, Oklahoma.
She and Guy were no strangers! They grew up in the
same community and went to the same school although
at different times. Guy had worked for her folks
when all the men were down with the flu in World War
I. At that time she was about three and he would
hold her on his knee. This union resulted in nine
children. 5 boys and 4 girls, 13 grandchildren 27
great grandchildren and 10 great great
grandchildren. Guy passed away in 1984 and she moved
to Cheyenne to make her home. In February 2008 she
moved to Sayre, OK.
She was a member of Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3
daughters, Koletta Vondell, Winonia Darlene and
Karen Sue, 1 sister, 2 brothers,
1 grandson and 1 great grandson.
She is survived by her 1 Daughter, Patricia Ann
Minjarez and husband, Lee, Almagordo, NM; 5 Sons,
Addie Hensley and wife, Norma, Pampa, TX, Dale
Hensley and wife, Pat, Clovis, NM, Ronald Hensley
and wife, Darlene, Durham, OK, Quinlin Hensley and
wife, Roxie, Altus, OK, Glen Hensley and wife,
Sherry, Cheyenne, OK; 13 Grandchildren, 27 Great
Grandchildren; 10 Great Great Grandchildren; a very
special friend, Nellie Myers, Skiatook, OK and a
host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation:
Thursday, 6/14/2012, 9-9
Service:
Services will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 at 1:30
pm at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated
by Dennis Hooper and Ray Smart.
Cemetery:
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the
direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service Cheyenne
