George M. Daugherty of Grimes, Oklahoma was born near New Augusta, Indiana on March 1, 1876 and departed this life January 12, 1966 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
In 1880 with his parents they moved to Blue Ridge, Missouri. His parents were members of the Methodist Church and they raised their children in a Christian home.
In 1892 they moved to Oklahoma Territory near Douglas, Oklahoma.
He married Maud Etta Gilbert at Skeleton, Oklahoma on March 6, 1898.
To this union fifteen children were born. His wife and eight children preceded him in death.
Three daughters and four sons survive, Clifford Daugherty of Grimes, Oklahoma; L. J. Daugherty of Modesto, California; Beulah Isch of Grimes, Oklahoma; Virgie Maune of Big Springs, Texas; Earl D. of Grimes, Oklahoma; Raymond D. of Hooker, Oklahoma; Bertha Ellis of Hobart, Oklahoma; twenty eight grandchildren, forty six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty homesteaded in 1901 on a farm near Cheyenne, Roger Mills County where they raised their family.
His wife passed away in 1939, since then he has lived with his daughters.
Interment in the Dempsey Cemetery.
