George "Al" Snethen

George "Al" Snethen was born August 22, 1945 in Hennessey, Oklahoma to
Frances and John Snethen. He passed away December 6, 2013 at Cheyenne,
Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 14 days.
Al grew up in Putnam, Oklahoma and in 8th grade moved with his family to
Oakwood graduating from high school in 1963. After graduation, he went
to work for the Santa Fe Railroad until 1969 when he decided to try the
oil patch. Al decided to make the oil field work his life's work, mainly
working for H&P until his retirement in 2004.
Al was married to Delorah (Aguilar) Snethen at Mountainair, New Mexico
on April 23, 1966. To this union 3 children were born and also 2
children from a previous marriage. Al and Delorah moved around a few
time and eventually settled in Western Oklahoma moving to Cheyenne in
1991 after 17 years in Reydon. Al liked nothing better than hunting,
fishing, gardening and spendig time with friends. Those who knew Al knew
he was a hard working family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Carl, Charles and
John Oliver Snethen and 1 sister, Betty Wells.
He is survived by his wife, Delorah, of the home; 5 children, Lynn
Snethen, Clinton, OK, David Snethen, Cheyenne, OK, Kevin Snethen, Omaha,
NE, Cindy Cantrell and husband, Earl, Sentinel, OK and George Snethen,
Jr., Sentinel, OK; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany LeGrand and husband, Jeff,
Gillette, WY, Nathaniel Tesillo, Clinton, OK, Robert Snethen, Elk City,
OK, Alexis Hewitt and husband, Devan, Sentinel, OK and Angela Cantrell,
Sentinel, OK; 3 great grandchildren, Brilyn, Kenzlie and Thomas; 1
brother, Ben Snethen and wife, Edna, Chino, CA and numerous beloved
in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held at 10 am December 10, 2013 at Cheyenne
First Baptist Church in Cheyenne,
OK.
Burial in Cheyenne Cemetery, Roger Mills Co.
