Funeral services for Odeca I. Morton Cole were conducted Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, officiated by Rev. Terrell Romberg and eulogy by Dale Tracy.
Internment was followed in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
Odeca departed from this life January 11, 2002 at Sayre Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 7, 1918 to William Wesley and Mattie P. Morton in Herring, Oklahoma.
In 1934 Odeca moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma where she met Joe Lee Cole. They were married at Mount Rose, Oklahoma on November 8, 1935.
Into this home God blessed them with three children.
After raising her family Odeca worked at Krows Grocery Store and then became a dietician at Cheyenne Schools for over 20 years. She also cooked at Falls Creek every summer for thirteen years.
After retiring Odeca was very active in the Senior Citizen Center, quilting and playing cards with her friends.
In 1998 after surgery and illness she moved to Grand Place Nursing Center in Sayre, Oklahoma then to Bell Avenue Nursing Home in Elk City, Oklahoma where she lived for her remaining years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sue Cole of Torrance, California; one daughter, Shirley Allen of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Randy Cole of Torrance, California; Mike Allen of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Keith Allen of Hammon, Oklahoma; and Gary and his wife, Sondra Allen of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; eight great grandchildren, Tifaney, Kayla, Blake, Blaine, Aaron, Nicole, Albert Cole and Kellie; two brothers, Harry and Cecil Morton of California; and a special sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Dean from Sayre, Oklahoma; a special son-in-law Leroy Allen; and grandaughters-in-law, Catherine and Trisha.
Pallbearers were J. W. Fish, Bill Dean, Dennis Salder, Christopher Sadler, Darren Atha and Larry Bradshaw.
