James Ira Cole was born September 27, 1897, at Weatherford, Texas.
He moved to Oklahoma with his parents in the spring of 1900. His parents filed on the land at Hamburg in 1899.
Mr. Cole has made his home in Cheyenne for the past nine years.
He passed away August 23, 1971 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital after an extended illness at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 27 days.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Ruth Riley on December 20, 1936 at Durham, Oklahoma.
Mr. Cole was the son of J. M. Cole and Mary Louella Cole.
He became a member of the Methodist Church at Hamburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ira Jr., his parents, and a brother, Wesley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; a sister, Ollie Wood of Reydon; two brothers, Lee of Durham; and J. T. of Wheeler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held August 25, 1971, at the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, with Rev. Milton Gage officiating.
Burial was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Jennie Ruth (Riley) Cole

June 11, 1912 ~ September 13, 1986

Services were held Monday, September 15, 1986, 2:00 p.m. For Jennie Ruth Cole in the Cheyenne First Baptist Church with Milton Gage and Ken Shiplett officiating. Interment was held at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, OK.

Jennie Ruth Cole was born June 11, 1912 in Texas and passed away September 13, 1986 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hosptial, after an extended illness, at the age of 74 years 3 months and 2 days.

Ruth the daughter of William Jessie and Idell Riley moved with her parents to Roger Mills County in 1928. On December 20, 1936 she married James Ira Cole in Durham, Okla., where they made their home until 1949 when they moved to the Dempsey Community. Later, in 1962 they moved to Cheyenne where they have made their home since that time.

She was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church were she had worked in the church nursery for 25 years. She had also babysat numerous other hildren around Roger Mills County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers.

She is survived by: 4 sisters, Lois Thomas of Cheyenne, Oklla; Hazel Malson of Durham, Okla., Alta Reed of Cleburne, TX; Gerri Saiz, of Farmington, NM; 2 brothers, H.D. Riley of Amarillo, TX; W.T. Riley of Dumas, TX. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were: W.T. Riley, J.A. Woods, Melvin Summers, Leon Malson, Ronald Briggs, Harold Dee Riley.
