Donald Stephen Atzet was born April 14, 1942 to Ray J. and Mary (Gimenez) Atzet in Corona, California. 

He departed this life on October 12, 2020 at Integris South West due to Covid and other serious health problems.  He was 78 years and 7 months of age.  

Donald grew up with his family in San Ysidro, California.  He had 3 brothers and one sister. In 1956, the family moved to Campo, California for 2 years. Donald graduated high school in Imperial, California. His next two years found him in Los Angeles area where he attended UCLA college for 2 years. He excelled in sports, concentrating his time to track events. He also was head trumpet in the college marching band.  He attended and made rank in ROTC while there, although he did not enter active service. He was a member of MENSA society and later in life contributed cartoons to the magazine.

From college, Donald started to pursue a career in music, both vocally and playing several instruments and writing his own songs.  A friend Michael Shuman, who produced some of his original music had been in contact with him even up to a month ago.  His music and songs found him in places all over the Los Angeles area and at one point sang in BB King’s Blues Club.  Being in the Hollywood area, he worked at several studios lending a hand in various stage production opportunities. On the production of STARGATE, he had the opportunity to do work in the throne room scenes, as painting was something he loved to do.  Donald painted in the various media and did cartoon depictions.  He did cartoons for the Cheyenne Star for a couple of years in his senior years.  

After his father passed away, Donald decided to move to Oklahoma to be close to his mother and sister.  He had been in the Cheyenne area for about 15 years, the last five of which have been at Hensley’s Nursing Home in Sayre, Oklahoma.
 

In Cheyenne, Donald volunteered for the Clothes Closet organization and it’s food program. He found great joy singing in the Baptist Church choir and met and loved the church family there.  He was a cradle Catholic but loved singing for the Lord in the local area when he was unable to travel out of town for Catholic mass.  Donald would eat lunch with his friends at the local Senior center, where he made many more friends. 
 

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Ray J and Mary Atzet and one brother Jon E Atzet of Salt Lake City.
 

Donald is survived by his brothers, Ray A and Peg Atzet, of Los Osos, California and Thomas and Jackie Atzet of Merlin, Oregon.   He has one sister, Mary Burrows and husband Doyle of Cheyenne. His relatives are scattered in Oregon, Utah, Texas and other states.  He especially cherished his many friends along his journey in life.
