Ethel Mae Neal Whitledge was born December 14, 1908 in New Liberty community, Oklahoma to Nellie Elodia Fetty and Charles Holiday Neal.
She passed away October 27, 2004 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 13 days.
Ethel moved with her parents to Berlin as a child.
She was married to Chester Forest Whitledge at Berlin on September 16, 1934.
They moved to the Doxey community where they farmed and ranched while running their dairy.
She was a member of the Doxey Home Demonstration Club.
Ethel loved to raise chickens and was known for her cream pies.
She was baptized at the age of 16 in the Plummer pond and was an active member of the Sayre Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Services were held Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Roy Hardesty and assisted by Ervin Thurman.
Burial was at the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen and Leslie Welch of Sayre, Oklahoma; one son, Jerry and Ruth Whitledge of Sayre, Oklahoma; two sisters, Louise Macklin of Erick, Oklahoma; Dolly Fraley of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Dale Neal of Sayre, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Eddie Whitledge, Londa Williams and Cassie Welch, all of Sayre, Oklahoma; six great grandchildren, Brandi, Casey, J. D., Jason, Jordon, Vincell, all of Sayre, Oklahoma; two great great grandchildren, Everett and Samantha, both of Sayre; and a host of other relatives and friends.
