Services for Robert L. Shepard, 42 year old former Hammon newspaperman, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hammon Baptist church with Rev. Cleo Martin and Minister Albert Trent, both of Hammon officiating.
Mr. Shepard was born on October 10, 1912, near Hammon and died in an Elk City hospital Thursday, Decenber 16, 1954. He had been ill for 18 months.
He was married to Miss Millie Wilson at Strong City on October 15, 1931, and had lived in Roger Mills County all his life.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mr. Shepard farmed in Roger Mills County and for 27 years was employed by the Hammon Advocate newspaper.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Robert L. Shepard of Hammon; two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Duckworth of Quail, Texas; and Mrs. Effie Robinson of San Antonio, Texas; six brothers, V. L. of New Orleans, Louisiana; John W. of Reydon; James V. of Garden City, Kansas; Richard of Baltimore, Maryland; Charlie of Hammon and Major Roy Shepard, with the U.S. Armed Forces; as well as other relatives and friends.
Burial will be in the Barker cemetery near Hammon with Martin-Hullum Funeral Home handling arrangements.
