Irine Axton (formerly Irine Langley) of Rattan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2014 at the age of 85 after suffering a stroke. Mrs. Axton was born on January 10, 1929 in Antlers, Oklahoma to James and Nettie (Monroe) Langley. 

Irine was born and raised in the Antlers area. She lived in San Diego, California for more than 30 years, where she worked for the San Diego School District. She retired to her home in Rattan in 1988 to be near her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Axton was an avid gardener, baker, and quilter. She was very active in the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan. 

Mrs. Axton is preceded in death by her parents James and Nettie (Monroe) Langley; sister Pauline Coats; sister Lorene Rushing; brother Leo Langley; sister Nadine Leathers; and sister Jimmy Dempsey.

She is survived by her beloved husband John; her three daughters and sons-in law: Linda & Ron Frandsen, Jo Ann & Larry Legg and Debbie Hardin & Jon Preimesberger; her grandchildren: Rick Legg, Jarrod Legg, Kevin Legg, and Juliane Irine Preimesberger; and her seven great-grandchildren: Courtney, Landrey, Whitney, Gehrig, Dallas, Jaxson, and Parker Legg; her step-children: David, Pat, Paula, and Bob Axton & their families; her sister Christine Duffy; and her brother James Langley. She will be greatly missed by all. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00am at the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan, Oklahoma with Pastor Dave Goff officiating. Pallbearers include Rick Legg, Jarrod Legg, Kevin Legg, Larry Legg, David Axton, and Bob Axton. Interment will follow at the Rattan Cemetery.
