John C. Baker was born the son of Carbin and Rhoda M. (Carterby)
Baker on May 10, 1930 in Red Oak, OK. He passed from this life
on November 22, 2007 in Antlers, OK at the age of 77 after a
long and courageous fight with cancer.
John was a member of Big Lick Methodist Church in Divide, OK. He
was a lay speaker, a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He loved spending
time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, raising hogs
and gospel singing.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Carbin Baker and
Rhoda Jones; a son: Billy Baker; his brother: Wilburn Jones; two
sisters: Eliza Alexander and Caroline Carter: and two infant
granddaughters: Emily Baker and Natasha Baker.
He is survived by three sons: David Baker of Moyers, Ok, Ernie
Baker and wife, Gay of Antlers, OK, and Arnold Baker of
Okmulgee, Ok; four daughters: Karen Coffman of Broken Bow, OK,
Laura Gibson of Idabel, OK, Paula Griffith and husband, Jimmy of
Valliant, OK, and Lorena Jaunico of Idabel, OK; one brother:
Abraham Jones and wife, Sue of Moyers, OK; three sisters: Clara
Jones and husband, Don of Broken Arrow, OK, Nancy Peters and
husband, Floyd of Antlers, OK, Elenza Johnson and husband, Jim
also of Antlers, OK; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
and numerous other nieces and nephews. In Loving Memory of John
