Jewell Geneva Haddox was born October 15, 1922 in Miller to Wade and Villie (Janway) Hedrick.

She passed from this life on January 26, 2012 in Hugo at the age of 89. 

Jewell was raised in Pushmataha County where she attended school at Hall community. Later she met and married her husband of 45 years, Joe Haddox, in June of 1942 in Antlers. After spending a couple of years in California they returned to Pushmataha County for a short time before moving to Oklahoma City for 18 years. They returned to Pushmataha County in March of 1969 when her husband was forced into early retirement with heart problems. He later died in 1986. The joy of Jewell's life was her church and singing. While her husband was alive they traveled extensively throughout several states singing in revivals. Following her passing, one of her grandsons was quoted as saying: Move over Vestal, here comes Granny. She had a very powerful alto voice. Jewell attended the Centerpoint Free Will Baptist Church where her son Bill pastors; and the Hall Free Will Baptist Church where her grandson Wes Pastors. 

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents: Wade and Villie Hedrick; her husband: Joe Haddox; a son James (Jimmy) Haddox; and a brother: James Hedrick.

She is survived by her daughter: Shirley Spencer of Midwest City; son: Bill and wife Wanda Haddox of Rattan; brother: Jack and wife Janice Hedrick of Antlers; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hall Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Andy Reed and Reverend Jim Lawrence officiating. Music was "What A Day That Will Be", "Amazing Grace", & "Jesus, Hold My Hand".

Pallbearers included Billy Haddox, Wayne Haddox, Wes Haddox, Steve Haddox, Michael Haddox, & Bill Hampton with Bill Everett serving as Honorary Pallbearer.

Interment followed at Hall Cemetery in Hall Community.
