Funeral services for Don Burgess will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK with Bro. Brent Franks officiating and burial following in the Hall Cemetery. Don passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 in Paris, Texas, at the age of 73.

Donald Wayne Burgess was born April 30, 1942 in Antlers, Oklahoma, to Henry Latham and Venice (Manasco) Burgess. He had lived in this area for the past 42 years and was a member of the Methodist Church. He married Jane Hargrove on April 26, 1968. Don obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Oklahoma University. He was an excellent Certified Public Accountant for over 40 years, partner at Burgess & Burgess Accounting Firm in Hugo, OK. Don loved baseball, even playing for the OU Sooners and US Army teams. He thoroughly enjoyed Sooner football every season, catching the games on television with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Leon Burgess; sister, Alta Fullingim.

Don is survived by wife, Jane Elizabeth Burgess of the home; children, Kirk Brian Burgess and wife, Sandra, of Broken Arrow, OK, Brandi Burgess Payne and husband, Will, of Hugo, OK, and Kelli Burgess Holmes and husband, Heath, of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers, Coy Burgess and wife, Joyce of Antlers, OK, and Lowell Burgess and wife, Novelline of Antlers, OK; sister-in-law,Deane Burgess; grandchildren, Rylee Holmes, Halli Holmes, McKinley Payne, Hayes Burgess Payne, Jarred Payne, Conner Burgess, Cameron Burgess, and Ashlyn Burgess.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
