Helen Moore, age 90 of Wayne, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Helen Christine Scott was born September 2, 1923 near Wanette, Oklahoma, the fourth of eleven children born to Colbert Scott and Beulah Louisa Crouch Scott.
She was raised near Wanette and attended Wanette Schools. Helen met a young man from Trousdale, Oklahoma named R. B. "Jack" Moore. They were young and in love, and they were united in marriage on January 4, 1941 in Wayne. They first made their home in Wanette, followed by a brief stint in California, before moving back to Wanette. They eventually settled in Wayne in 1949, and it became home. Helen loved being a stay at home wife and mother. She cherished her family and worked tirelessly taking care of her home. She was very gifted with her hands. Whether sewing or quilting, she spent many hours creating doll clothes and prom dresses and baby quilts. She was a gifted painter and enjoyed cooking meals for those in need. She was an extraordinary woman with many talents and she found great joy in serving others. She was a strong woman; a woman of great faith, and a longtime member of the Wayne Church of Christ. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. "Jack" Moore in November of 2010; her parents, Colbert and Beulah Scott; two sisters, Arizona Beets and Dovy "Toots" Wilson; and six brothers, Garvin, Harvey, Billy, Johnny, Fred and Ray Scott.
Helen leaves behind her children, Barbara Barger and husband Dave of Purcell; Sandra Shephard and husband Earl of Rosedale; Karan Bridgwater and husband David of Arlington, Texas; Connie Mashburn and husband Jerry of Edmond; and Robbie Moore and wife Sharon of Wayne; a sister, Louvinia Judy of Oklahoma City; and a brother, Charley Scott of Lexington; fifteen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; three great greats and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Wayne.
Burial will follow at the Wanette Cemetery.
