Louise (Compton) Kersey, 93, lifelong resident of the Wanette/Trousdale, Oklahoma area, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Norman.
She was born April 16, 1925 to Asa Lee and Maudie (Reecer) Compton in Trousdale, Oklahoma.
Louise attended grade school at Jumper, Oklahoma and graduated in 1945 from Trousdale High School. She has been a resident of Wanette, Oklahoma since 1945.
She married Herman H. Kersey on August 7, 1942 in Purcell, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in February of 1979. Louise was a member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1950 holding almost all offices.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman H. Kersey; 4 brothers, Clyde, Clarence, Claude and Cecil Compton; and 1 sister, Lucielle Compton Suchy.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Carolyn and Curly Corwin of Crescent, OK, Marilyn Sokolosky of Broken Arrow, OK and Cherlyn and Dave Maleare of Chattanooga, TN; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Laverene Compton Dawson of Wanette, OK; and numerous, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family has designation the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761 or the American Cancer Society, 6525 N. Meridian, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK 72116 as appropriate for memorials.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018 and continue through service time. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Perry, Church of Christ officiating. Graveside Service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Wanette Cemetery with grandsons, Marty Johnson and Aaron Maleare officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
