Ione Arnold, 89, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Oklahoma City.

She was born June 17, 1931 to Jewel and Ethel (Milford) Scott in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ione was raised in Oklahoma City and Wewoka, Oklahoma and attended schools in Oklahoma City and Wewoka. She lived in the Macomb area for 18 years and in Tecumseh for the last 6 years.

She married John Douglas “Doug” Arnold on March 27, 1948 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and they were married for 65 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2014.

Ione worked for the State of Oklahoma as an Auditor for the Oklahoma Tax Commission until her retirement.

She was a devout Christian woman and a member of the Highland Church in Tecumseh. She was a devoted wife to Doug during his 50 plus years in the ministry at many churches in the area including 18 years at the Wanette Church of Christ. Ione loved to cook, especially pies and enjoyed feeding everyone. She was a devoted, wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Arnold; son, John Craig Arnold; granddaughter, Pamela Arnold; her parents, Jewel and Ethel Scott; sisters, Ramona Beam and Pauline Wilson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Olen and Audrey Arnold of Seminole, OK; 2 grandsons, Brent Arnold and Mike Stidham; 3 granddaughters, Monica Palmer, Krista Clark and Michelle Stidham; 11 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Laura, Biar, Marley, Finn, Zoey, Ashton, Angela, Kaleb, Allison and Brianna; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Randy Hunt of Pawhuska, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Derlene Scott of Smithville, MO; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Erick Henson, Tecumseh Highland Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
