Betty Louise Mayo Maxon, age 81 of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, surrounded by her family in her home.
Betty Louise Mayo was born October 18, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona, the 3rd of 7 children born to Walter Ira Mayo and Hattie Anne Thomas Mayo.
She was raised in Phoenix and attended school there.
On September 26, 1952, Betty married her best friend and true love, Ausbey J. D. Maxon. They made their home in the Tribbey area where together they raised 9 children; sons, Mark, Daniel, David, John and Walter and daughters, Betty, Debbie, Tina and Sandy.
Betty dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked both as a Nurse’s Aide and as a Certified Medication Aide at the Four Seasons Nursing Center in Norman. Betty cherished her family and especially her grandchildren.
She enjoyed crafts and crocheting and blessed many with her talents and abilities.
Betty loved the Lord with all her heart, and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a faithful member of the Calvary Holiness Church in Purcell. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ausbey J.D. Maxon; her son, David Maxon; her parents, Walter and Hattie Mayo; a brother, Vernon Mayo and granddaughter, Sarah Maxon Kernop.
Betty leaves behind four daughters, Betty McWhirter and husband Marion of Lexington, Debbie Schat and husband Danny of Norman, Tina Potemra and husband Steven of Purcell and Sandy Holley and husband David of Washington; four sons, Mark Maxon of Norman, Daniel Maxon of Lexington, John Maxon and wife Donna of Tecumseh and Walter Maxon and wife Delores of Moore; siblings, Gene Mayo and wife Tansy of Peoria, Arizona, Darlene Downs of Sacramento, California, Sandy Gibson of Glendale, Arizona, Mary Ann Mayes and husband Tom of Sun City, Arizona and Jerry Sandri Mayo and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter-in-law, Lisa Maxon of Casa Grande, Arizona; twenty one grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Calvary Holiness Church in Purcell.
Burial will follow at the Tribbey Cemetery.
