Imogene Wyatt was born June 8, 1925 to Claude and Lottie (Windham) Hopkins in Okemah, Oklahoma. She departed this life September 19, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years.
She gaduated from Maud High School. On May 18, 1945 Imogene Hopkins and Harlan Wyatt were united in marriage. From this union were born two children, Cheryl and Terry.
She was a faithful member of the First Church of God serving as church secretary for over twenty years under Brother Clifford Funk and D.C. Stafford.
Imogene and Harlan loved to travel and camp. First, starting by camping in tents at Catfish Bay, Lake Texoma with Harlan’s parents, brother, sisters and cousins. They upgraded to a travel trailer in the mid 1970’s and traveled to Branson Missouri as well as Eureka Springs; they loved the magic of the Ozarks. Imogene was first and foremost a SERVANT to all. Whether it was family, friends, or her church. It was an easy chore, being that she was raised in a CAFÉ and BAKERY. She always said to us that “cooking is my PASSION”. Her family was always first in her life.
She is survived by husband of over 75 years, Harlan Wyatt of Norman; one daughter, Cheryl Brackett and husband Bill of Norman; one son, Terry Wyatt and wife Debra of Bristow; sister in law, Betty Wyatt of Edmond; grandchildren, Jarrod Wyatt and wife Elizabeth, Justin Wyatt and wife Amber, Dr. Ryan Brackett and wife Melissa; Leanne Brackett; great grandchildren, Riley Wyatt, Hailey Wyatt, A.J. Wyatt, Madie Brackett and Darby Brackett. She also had several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend of over 43 years, Marilyn Ailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James and J.C. Hopkins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Busch officiating. Interment will follow at the Tecumseh City Cemetery.
