Linda Watson, 73, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, former longtime Kennett, Missouri resident passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born August, 30, 1946 to Rufus Terrell and Lona (Frederick) Mitchell in Kennett, Missouri.
Linda was raised and attended schools in Kennett, Missouri.
She met her future husband, Carl Eugene Watson on August 16, 1964 at Tommie’s Drive In and they were married on February 13, 1965 at Abiding Peace Temple in Kennett, Missouri. Carl preceded her in death on November 9, 2015.
After marriage they moved and spent several years in St. Alban, Missouri where Carl worked as a hunting guide at St. Alban Hunting Club. They returned to Kennett in 1985, where they lived for many years and raised their three sons, and attended Abiding Peace Temple. In 2011 after retirement Linda and Carl moved to Tecumseh.
Linda was a member of Abiding Peace Temple until moving to Tecumseh. She was a praise and worship leader and children’s church minister for many years. Linda had a beautiful voice and was a talented singer. She loved to sing southern gospel music. Linda loved reading, spending time with family and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Watson; parents, Rufus and Lona Mitchell; and 7 brothers, Eugene Mitchell, Roy Mitchell, Ray Mitchell, Clyde Mitchell, Vernon Mitchell, Willie D. Mitchell and R. L. Mitchell.
Those left to cherish her memory are 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Michael and Dawn Watson, of Bono Ark., Chris and Laura Watson, of Yukon, OK, and Tim and Jessica Watson of Tecumseh, OK; 8 grandchildren, Blake, Ciara, Cody, Aidan, Camber, Zeke, Tucker and Brynlie; 1 great-grandchild, River; 1 sister, Bernice Trober of Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 and continue until service time. Family Gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
