David Brett Schantz, 42, of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 in Oklahoma City.
He was born January 28, 1981 to Merle and Darla (Austin) Schantz in Moore, Oklahoma.
Brett grew up in Moore, Oklahoma and graduated from Moore High School. He was a resident of Kingston, Oklahoma.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Iraqi Freedom. He earned the Nation Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Iraq Campaign Medal. David served with the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Operations and Maintenance as soldier in support of Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2005 as soldier in imminent danger area and was honorably medically retired from the service.
Brett was a Mason member and enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, and hanging out with his nephews. He was an avid O.U. Fan and enjoyed having a good time and taking care of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle Schantz and Darla Price; grandfather, Don Austin; grandparents, Ernest and Ionalee Schantz.
Survivors include his grandmother, Delores Austin of Kingston, OK; sister, Leslie Rushing of Oklahoma City, OK; nephews, Cooper Rushing and Jordan Rushing; uncle, Donnie and Terry Austin of Kingston, OK; aunt, Darla Carter of Yukon, OK; cousins, D.J., Chris, Kathy, Lanee, Kip and Lane; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 at Tecumseh Cemetery Pavilion with Military Chaplain officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
