Oliver Henry “Bob” Roberts, 94, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma fought the good fight, finished his course, kept the faith and was lovingly welcomed home by Jesus on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Bob was born to Newman F. and Lydia (Callaway) Roberts on May 17, 1924 in Robert Lee, Texas on his grandfather’s farm. He grew up in Texas and Grand Junction, Colorado and was the youngest of nine children.
Bob was a veteran of World War II and served his country honorably for thirty-one years. He began his military career in May, 1941 at the age of seventeen when he enlisted in the United States Navy. In 1946, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and after twenty-six years of distinctive service, he retired in 1972, and had achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. The discipline and patriotism Bob learned never left him, as friends and family attest. “If any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think I can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: “I served in the United States Navy and Air Force.” President John F. Bob married Dorothy (Youker) Craig on April 22, 2006 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and they resided in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Bob will be remembered by his family for his kind, caring and gentle spirit. He was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church in Shawnee where he taught a men’s adult Sunday school class. Bob was a man truly rich in integrity and love and was a faithful example of what it means to be a follower of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Davis, Chester, Todd and Clarence; and four sisters, Emma, Mary Belle, Ethel and Addie. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy of the home; son, Stanley Roberts of Kansas; step-children, Mike and Ruth Craig, Gary and Adoris Craig, Sharon Barnett, and Donna and Michael Mckechnie; nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family and a host of many friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019 with family gathering to greet friends and family from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Craig, Temple Baptist Church, Shawnee, Randy Moore and Bob Renegar officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
