Sharon Janelle Powell, 74, of Dale, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Shawnee.
She was born April 24, 1948 to James and Susie Doty in Mill Creek, Oklahoma.
Sharon was raised in Mill Creek and attended Mill Creek Schools. She attended East Central University and Rose State College. She moved to Midwest City in 1971.
Sharon worked as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement.
She was hilarious, funny and outgoing person. Sharon loved spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren; they were the focal point of her life. She also loved "TJ" her dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Mitchell; and brother, Otis Doty.
Survivors include her daughter, Shari York and husband James Harvey; granddaughters, Maegan and Kyle Lester of Wilmington, NC and Yancey and Luis Diaz of Oklahoma City, OK; great-granddaughter, Juna Kai Lester; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Parker of Dale Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
