Jaqueta (Hunt) Nix, 83, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 in Oklahoma City.
She was born October 17, 1936 to Haskell and Hazel (Patten) Hunt in Macomb, Oklahoma.
Jaqueta was raised in Macomb and graduated with the class of 1954 from Macomb High School.
She married Glen Nix on September 10, 1955. After marriage they lived in Shawnee and have been Shawnee residents for the past 64 years.
Jaqueta retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1988.
She was an avid bowler and inducted into United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. She had a big heart, was compassionate and loved to volunteer at the Shawnee Hospital, Oklahoma Blood Institute and meals on wheels. She loved going to the lake, but her grandchildren were the focal point of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Hazel Hunt.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Glen Nix of the home; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Kathy and Randy Childers of Bethel Acres, OK and Glenna and Rick McElhany of Shawnee, OK; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Joleen and Ivan Hatler of Macomb, OK, Twana Nadeau of Macomb, OK, and Max and Jolene Hunt of Tecumseh, OK; 4 grandchildren, Kyle and Loretta Childers, Kris and Amy Childers, Jessica and Doug Schoeling and Steven McElhany; 6 great-grandchildren, Kole Childers, Kai Childers, Konnor Childers, Kapri Childers, Tatum Schoeling and Reed Schoeling; and loving extended family and friends; including her bowling family.
Public Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2020. Private family services to be held with Pastor Mark Guinn officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
