Ruth Hood, 82, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at her home.
She was born on June 4, 1937 in Kusel, Germany to Ludwigh and Martha (Braun) Kohl.
Ruth graduated from Kusel High School in Germany.
Ruth met her husband Earl in Germany in early 1961, while he was on active duty in the U.S. Army. They were bonded in marriage on May 8, 1962 a marriage that turned out to be filled with much love for each other. Besides being a remarkably loving wife, she was also a very devoted land loving mother.
Ruth loved making delicious German Christmas cookies as well as preparing all sorts of delicious German food for her family. She loved gardening, outdoor lawn activities and knitting. She will be remembered as a very wonderful loving person, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and as a very close friend to many whom knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 daughters, Jackie Lynn Hood and Sandra Jean Diamond.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl Hood; 1 son, Michael Hood of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Sue Roberson of Shawnee, OK; Ruth has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who reside in Shawnee, OK, Webster, NY, Fairfield, CA, Vancouver, WA, London, England and Spangdahlem, Germany; 1 brother, Otto Kohl of Kusel, Germany; 2 sisters, Renate Koch of Kusel, Germany and Marianne Feickert of Neustadt, Germany; and other extended family and friends. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Monte Dean, Aydelotte Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
