Jimmy “Jim” Lyle Hayes, 70, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 20, 1951 to Edsel Lyle and Rose Marie (Courtright) Hayes in Perkins, Oklahoma.
Jim was raised in Ripley, Oklahoma where he graduated from Ripley High School. He then went on to attend Central State University.
Jim married Margaret Matthews on January 10, 1975 in Chandler, Oklahoma.
He along with his wife owned and operated State Beauty Supply in Shawnee for many years.
Jim attended Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh for 30 years where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder. He loved fishing, classic cars, and OU athletics with an emphasis on OU Women’s Basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karla Sue Moffit; brother-in-law, Billie Carroll Matthews; and great-nephew, Caleb Matthew Rogers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret J. Hayes of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Erica and Kyle Atyia of Seminole, OK; grandson, Cooper Atyia; granddaughter, Arabelle Atyia; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Crystal Hayes of Stillwater, OK; brother-in-law, Al Moffit of Cushing, OK; sister-in-law, Nelda Matthews of Chandler, OK; endless number of nieces, nephews and their children; and many loving friends and extended family.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January, 18, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 with the family gathering to meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with Erick Henson and Kevin Rayner officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
