Jimmie Dale Grundy

Jimmie Dale Grundy, 89, of Oklahoma City passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Norman.

He was born August 5, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma to James and Lovell (Thornton) Grundy.

He married Karen Montgomery on December 20, 1973. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2022.

Jimmie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from February 10, 1953 to February 20, 1973. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict Era, Peacetime and Vietnam Era, serving two tours in Vietnam. He received several awards and medals including the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.

Upon retiring from the Army, he went to work for the United State Post Office. There he worked from May 1973 to September 1987.

He was a member of Crown Heights Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Jimmie entered the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Norman in May 2021 and remained there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Grundy; parents, James Grundy and Lovell (Thornton) Grundy; and his sister, Peggy Milbrat.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, James (Sharon) Grundy of Oberlin, LA and Gregory Kim (Edie) Grundy of Westlake, LA; his two daughters, Maureen Grundy of Oakdale, LA and Darlene Grundy Lowe of Oberlin, LA; two step-daughters, Laurie Smith of Oklahoma City and Angela (Kris) Haley of La Porte, TX; 8 grandchildren, Jimmy Wayne (Amy Grundy, Nick(Angie) Grundy, Blake (Lori) Grundy, Josh Grundy, Michael Grundy, Casey Grundy, Nathan Lowe and Beau Grundy; 11 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Blake Grundy officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
