Betty Joyce Griffin, 86, resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away, Friday, November 10, 2017.
Betty was born August 27, 1931 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma to Orin H. and Della (Fox) Johnson. She grew up, and lived most of her life in Meeker, Oklahoma. Betty moved to Tecumseh and has lived here for past 25 years.
She attended and graduated from Meeker High School.
She was a Dental Assistant and later worked as a clerk at Kress in Shawnee before retiring.
Betty married Leroy A. Griffin on May 12, 1983 in Shawnee.
Betty was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She loved going to church, enjoyed reading and loved collecting owls.
She is preceded in death by, her parents, her husband; Leroy Griffin in November 2000, son, Don Sumpter; grandson, Chanc Sumpter; brother,Cleo Johnson; sister, Gladis Griffin.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Regina Hacker of Shawnee; 2 grandsons, Joe & Jennifer Sumpter, and Justin & Rhonda Sumpter of Shawnee; granddaughter, Heather Hacker of Norman; great-granddaughter, Grace Sumpter; great grandsons, Shane Sumpter , and Parker Sumpter; nephew, Mike Johnson of Shawnee; neice, Darla Griffin of Bethany; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017, and will continue 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 until service time. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Cooper Funeral Home with Erick Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
