Joyce Sue Morrell Allen

Joyce Allen, 84, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 31, 2022 in Broken Arrow.

Joyce and her twin sister, Doryce were born on January 27, 1938 to John D. and Zula (Moon) Morrell at the "Y" near Macomb, Oklahoma.

Joyce was raised alongside her two older brothers, Jack and Jimmy, her older sister Shirley and her twin sister Doryce. Reece, Bob, and Karol soon joined the gang to add to the already good times at the "Y".

She attended Macomb Public Schools where she played basketball. She graduated from Macomb High School.

She met her future husband James "Jim" Allen, Jr. in 1952 at The Pine Theater in Tecumseh. On June 23, 1956 they were married at the Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. They lived in Chandler and Moore until moving to Enid in 1970 where they lived until 2011, then they moved to Midwest City so Joyce could be with her sisters. In 2020 they moved to Broken Arrow to be near their son and his wife.

Joyce worked as an Administrative Assist for Ward Petroleum for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. At the age of 78 she took up oil painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Zula Morrell; brother, Jack Morrell; and sisters, Shirley Jeansen and Karol Cheatwood.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 66 years, James "Jim" Allen, Jr. of the home; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Jimmy Allen, III of Lexington, OK; Scott and Leslie Allen of Broken Arrow, OK; 4 grandchildren, Cassi Neville and Husband James, Anna Allen, Abbey Williams and Husband Christopher and Riley Allen; 2 great-grandchildren, Luca Williams and Nicolo Williams; twin sister and brother-in-law, Doryce and Lewis Livingston; 3 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law, Jim and Sue Morrell, Reece and LaRita Morrel and Bob and Suzanne Morrell; and other loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2022 and continue through service time. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
