Danny Ray Yort, 75, died unexpectedly at his alternator shop on Friday, August 5, 2022.
He was born June 2, 1947 to Harvey and LC Marie Yort in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Danny was a lifelong resident of Shawnee and was very proud to be from “Shawnee America”. He attended Shawnee Public Schools and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965.
He married the love of his life, Jessica Costa in 1996. She died in 2002 after many years of happiness together.
Danny retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He also owned and operated Yort Alternator for many decades. He hardly missed a day of work for over a half a century. Per his wishes, Yort Alternator will remain open for business.
Danny was a devout, loving father, family man, and friend. He was the rock that could always be relied upon for moral and financial support. He was very generous with what he had and always helped others. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jessica Yort; 2 brothers, Don Yort and Bobby Yort; and 3 sisters, Shirley, Marcine and Betty.
Those left to cherish his memory his daughter, Gina Allen and fiancé Paul Wolfenberger of Broken Arrow, OK; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Allen of Broken Arrow, OK, Keely Allen of Oklahoma City, OK and Paige Allen of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 great-grandson, Crew Allen of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 step-daughter, Lisa McMurray of Shawnee, OK, 1 step-grandson, Hunter Boyd of Shawnee, OK; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Sherrill Yort; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2022 and continue through service time. Family gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
