Muriel Lavon Head Rose

rose-m-l

DECEMBER 5, 1945 ~ MARCH 10, 2024

Muriel Lavon (Head) Rose was born on December 5, 1945 to James Edmond and Iva Rosetta (Grove) Head in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on March 10, 2024 in Yukon, Oklahoma.

She grew up around the Bethel Acres area and attended Shawnee Schools. She graduated with the Shawnee Class of 1964. She met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Edwin Rose on December 10, 1966, just 5 days after her 21st birthday. They were married for 57 years until her passing. Muriel had a few jobs while she was young, among those were working at the Hornbeck and Ritz Theaters in downtown Shawnee, as well as the Independence Manor Nursing Home. She was mostly a homemaker, taking care of all of her small family's needs.

Muriel had many hobbies. She was known in her bowling league for her many strikes. She enjoyed antique shopping with her friends and family. She was always looking for the perfect piece of antique furniture to fit in a special spot in her home. She also collected antique dolls. My, what a collection! She and Jimmy loved to go to the movies and eat out. They also watched the OU Football and Thunder Basketball games. Some of her most interesting travels took place on cruise ships. She sailed to Cancun, Cozumel, and Belize with her many friends. Her greatest joys in life were her daughter, Cindy, and her granddaughters, Christina and Ashton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Iva Head; brothers, Melvin Head, Clifford Head, and Lyle Head; and sisters, Pauline Head,Betty Head, Joyce Stewart, and Sharon Sauders.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Jimmy Rose; her daughter, Cindy (Rodney) Honeyfield; granddaughters, Christina Gomez and Ashton Cathey; great-grandsons, Odyn Gomez and Cullin Cathey, and the many ladies at the nursing home that kept her hair styled and took care of her as one of their own.

A visitation for Muriel will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801.
