Mark Ingersoll, 78, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at his home.
He was born November 12, 1944 to Henry and Muriel (Morris) Ingersoll in Stillwater,
Oklahoma.Mark was raised in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools graduating from Shawnee High School.
He married Lola Miller on January 18, 1965 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Mark proudly served his country for 6 years in the Army National Guard Reserves with the 45th Infantry Thunderbirds Division. He was a rifle marksman and sharpshooter.
He started his career working for the City of Shawnee at the Utility Department. He later transferred to the Shawnee Police Department in 1969 where he worked as a Police Officer, Undercover Officer, Crime Scene Photographer, Detective and then as Evidence Officer. He retired in 2004 as a Detective Sergeant. In the early 1970's he enjoyed law enforcement competitive shooting. After retirement he worked at Shawnee Public Schools as a special needs bus monitor for 17 years.
Mark enjoyed riding his Harley and loved his Pug, Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Muriel Ingersoll; 2 brothers, John Singletry and Winn Singletry; and sister, Rhonda Barsaty.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Lola Jean Ingersoll of the home; 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law, Warren and Kerry Ingersoll of Shawnee, OK; 1 daughter, Dia Ingersoll; 8 grandchildren, Konner Ingersoll, Colton Ingersoll, Chris Ingersoll, Karson Ingersoll, Lily Ingersoll, Kaytlee Ingersoll, Johnathan Kidd and Autumn Ingersoll; 3 sisters, Carole Smith, Sheila Spears and Terry Locke; 2 brothers, Robert Singletry and Walter Locke; uncle, Carl Ingersoll; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2022 and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Ken Kerbo, Shawnee Police Department Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
