EDNA MARIE FRENCH

18 Sep 1923 - 26 Jan 2015

Edna Marie Blanken French, loving called Grandma E. E., was born September 18, 1923, to Katherine Fick and John Blanken in Cisco, Texas.

She moved to Shawnee with her parents in 1930, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1942.

She married Leon French at St. John's Lutheran Church on September 28, 1946. They moved to Utah on their honeymoon.

Both sons were born in Cedar City, Utah. Edna and Leon returned to Shawnee in January 1952, and moved to the family farm on January 1, 1960.

Edna worked for Kib Warren's Inc. as a bookkeeper for many years. After her retirement in 1984, she was a private duty nurse for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon French; brother, Art Blanken; sisters, Gertrude Stout, Clara Grundmann and Lisetta Grundmann.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Rodney and Terri French and Jim and Kathie French of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Earlene Blanken of Layton, Utah; and brother-in-law, Leo French of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also by special friends, Darryl and Belinda Fisher and their family, Jennifer and Quinton Trapp, and Richard and Sandy Stapp.

She was a life time member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Sunlighters group there for many years.

She passed from this life on January 26, 2015.

She is loved and will be missed by her friends and family but we rejoice with her knowing she has reached her goal, to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by her beloved Pastor Karen Fowler-Lindemulder.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to visit with friends and family.
