J.D. Drummond, 81, of Earlsboro, Oklahoma passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home.
He was born October 10, 1936 to Allen Jefferson J.D. and Thadda May (Ray) Drummond in Shawnee, OK.
J.D. was raised in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School before joining the United States Air Force. During his twenty years in the Air Force, he served his country as a jet mechanic and inspector while stationed at various locations including the Philippines and two tours in Vietnam. He was selected as a team member of the Air Force competitive marksmanship team. After his twenty years of dedicated service J.D. retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.
J.D. met the love of his life, Carol Chesser in Shawnee at the Central Drug Store where she worked. They were married on January 14, 1956 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They made their home in Earlsboro in 1977 after J.D. retired from the military.
After retiring from the military J.D. spent many years working and perfecting his skills as a trim carpenter, during which time he added custom woodwork to homes and businesses in central Oklahoma, including Cooper Funeral Home. He was a member of Earlsboro First Baptist Church. J.D. loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents; brother, Frank Drummond; daughter, Pam Fultz; and grandson, Brandon Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory are 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Elizabeth and Ray Cochran, Cindy LaPach and Paula Baker, all of Earlsboro; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 brother-in-law, and 1 sister-in-law, David Drummond and wife Kathy of Georgia, Barbara and Calvin Eastham of OKC, Janet Cox of Shawnee, and Kenny Drummond of Shawnee; as well as other loving extended family, friends and loving church members.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home with Brother Tim Green of South Canadian Baptist Association and Brother Mark Streetman of Earlsboro First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
