BOB BRYANT

August 30, 1937 - April 18, 2010

Bob Bryant passed away on April 18, 2010 in Bakersfield, Calif.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1937 to Robert and Mamie (Miller) Bryant in Shawnee. He was raised on the farm at Bryant’s Dairy and in 1954 he married his sweetheart for life, Shirley Carithers. They became owner/operators of Bryant’s Dairy selling fresh milk to Shawnee residents. They raised their three children on the farm. In the early 1970?s they established and managed Meadow Ridge Mobile Home Village. In the mid-70?s they traded farming for traveling. After getting hooked on the RV lifestyle with family and friends, they went full time RVing in mid 80?s. Motorhome life took them from Canada to Mexico and from Maine to California visiting nearly all 50 states. Their favorite spots to visit were Glass Creek, Colorado; Mammoth Lakes, California; and Quartzsite, Arizona. His life was a journey and he enjoyed life along every road.

Bob loved to travel, sit and visit, laugh, and tell stories all along the way. He loved nature and being off the beaten path in an RV or a jeep. His passion was woodcarving and he could make or fix anything you needed. Bob was a friend to everyone and loved being a husband, father, and grandfather.

He and Shirley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Phoenix, Arizona in November 2004. They were happily married for 56 years and best friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, son, Steve Bryant and his partner Ruth Oaks of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricea “Teresa” and Brett Askin of Shawnee; daughter, Dayna Bryant and her partner Karen Churchill of Grapevine, Texas.
