Delbert Moon, 80, of Quinton, Oklahoma went to be with Jesus and his beloved Carlita on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born March 6, 1940 to John and Addie (Gregory) Moon in Macomb, Oklahoma.

Delbert was raised in the Macomb/Maud area. He graduated with the class of 1958 from Maud High School.

Delbert married Carlita Louise McCraw in 1965 and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2005.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, then joined the U.S. Army serving in the Special Forces during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He later became an Army recruiter and eventually retired from the Army in 1978.

After retiring from the military he worked in construction and ranching, and later earned an associate’s degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Animal Sciences. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlita Moon; his parents; brothers and sisters, Herman, baby Ellen, Leroy, infant baby Clarence, J.D., Mary, Lavada, Lecil, Irlie, Ethel, Elbert and Dean.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Monique and Rodney Williams of Moore, OK and Elsie and Eddie Floyd of Quinton, OK; 2 sons, Douglas and Eva Moon of Sweetwater, TX and Patrick and Laura Moon of Las Cruces, NM; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Moon, Matthew Moon, Christopher Jordan, Katherine Jordan-Reed, Kendal Yates and Emma Floyd; 1 great-grandchild, Kindred Sanchez; 1 brother, Kenneth Moon; and other extended family and friends.

The family has requested that donations be made in Delbert’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Maud, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
