ORA BERNICE YOUNG
1923 - 2016


Ora Bernice Washburn Young, 92, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life into the arms of her heavenly father on Sunday, July 10, 2016.
She was born on October 23, 1923 to Lee and Ora Hulin Washburn in Newalla, Oklahoma.
She married Joe Stanley Young on July 8, 1954 in San Francisco, California. To this union, one son was born, Joe Marshall Young.
Ora was a cafeteria manager for Moore Public Schools for over 30 years.
She was a long time member of Tecumseh Freewill Baptist Church, but joined New Beginnings Church in Shawnee in 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Young; son, Joe Marshall Young; her parents; grandparents; infant sister, Ida Lou Washburn; 2 brothers, Darrell and Walter Washburn; and 2 sisters-in-law, Margie and Carolyn Washburn.
Those left to cherish her memory are one sister, Cresa Janeen Washburn of Tecumseh; 5 brothers, Bill Washburn and special friend, Gloria Hinton of Maud, Charlie and Helen Washburn of Shawnee, Loren and Frances Washburn of Tecumseh, Orval and Joyce Washburn of Tecumseh and Eldon Washburn of Shawnee; 2 sisters-in-law, Chubby Washburn of Shawnee and Velma Washburn of Midwest City; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sparks of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
